How To Handle A Chipped, Cracked ToothJune 15, 2017
Life is not always fair or fun.
In a single moment, your smile could be ruined. Biting into an unexpected olive pit, walking into someone or something, or being in a household accident are a few ways you could end up with a chipped or cracked tooth.
Fortunately, help is as close as our dentist office in Chicago. As an added bonus, at Nothalsted Dental Spa, you can have your smile repaired while you are treated in a relaxing setting.
Four Ways To Repair Your Tooth
Before our dentist, Dr. Michael Griffin, can say which treatment he would recommend for you, he needs to examine your tooth in person. After assessing the situation, he can explain your options based on more 17 years of experience.
Here’s what may need to be done:
▷ ROOT CANAL
We are starting with the worst-case scenario when the break is so deep it has exposed the pulp at the center of your tooth to infection. We know many people are concerned when they hear that they might need a root canal treatment, but there is no need to worry when you come to Northalsted Dental Spa.
We can help you relax by creating a soothing setting for your procedure with calming music and aromatherapy candles. Using advanced techniques, we can perform your root canal with as little pain as possible, and many times we can do this painlessly.
▷ DENTAL CROWN
Most chips or cracks won’t be so deep that they require a root canal, but it may still be necessary to add something to strengthen and protect what is left of your tooth. A crack can grow if it isn’t addressed, and a dental crown is often the best way to do this.
Since we have CEREC dental crowns, we can create and place your crown during a single visit to our spa-like location.
Dental veneers are an effective and efficient way to repair damage that isn’t large enough to require a full dental crown. Just as we can make a dental crown, we also can make dental veneers with our in-office milling machine.
Where crowns are placed over the tooth to serve as a cap of sorts, veneers are bonded to the front of your tooth to repair your smile. When your veneer is put in place, your tooth — and your smile — will look as good or better than it did.
Dental bonding is a different way of using our dental filling material. For a long time, metal fillings and caps were used to repair teeth. Today, we have a composite resin that can repair minor damage to your teeth in a way that blends in with the rest of your smile.
When you get dental bonding, even you might forget which one of your teeth was chipped.
We Want You To Feel Welcome
Restorative dentistry is an important part of what we do at Northalsted Dental Spa, but it’s not the only thing that sets us apart from other dentist offices.
We call ourselves a dental spa for a reason. We don’t want to be a sterile, cold place. We want to be an office that you want to visit.
Our team has decades of combined experience helping patients. We know that no two patients are the same, and we want to work with you to make your visits with us as comfortable as they can be. This reflected in the design of our office as well as the comfort options we have available.
We also want every patient to feel comfortable being themselves. No matter your family background, your gender identity, your race, your creed, or your sexual orientation, you will be accepted for who you are at our Chicago dentist office.
Talk To Us About Our Restorative Care
We know that a chipped or cracked tooth can do more than affect the appearance of your smile. We have seen the emotional impact this can have on our patients, but we’ve also seen how restorative care can lift someone’s spirits.
