While great at-home oral care is important, professional cleanings are more thorough and just as essential. Regular dental cleanings allow us to remove plaque and bacteria from those hard-to-reach places that are easy targets for tooth decay and gum disease. If left untreated, these conditions can eventually cause tooth loss, but regular cleanings can prevent, treat, and reverse the damage caused by plaque. At Northalsted Dental Spa, we’ll keep your mouth healthy and your teeth in fantastic shape with regular dental cleanings and exams!
The Benefits of Dental Cleanings
Think about your teeth for a second – how many deep crevices, tight corners, and little gaps do you have in your mouth? While regular care of your teeth is able to maintain a certain level of oral cleanliness, it’s impossible for you to remove the plaque that builds up in those difficult places. That’s why regular cleanings are so important!
Think of your teeth like you would any other complicated machine – the things you do to keep it clean and in working order are enough to maintain it between trips to the mechanic, but regular professional treatment is essential to any machine lasting a long time. It’s the same for your teeth!
Using special tools and treatments, we’ll keep your teeth in tip-top condition between regular six-month checkups. As plaque sits on your teeth between visits, the bacteria that it houses produces acids that slowly erode your enamel. When this happens, you can eventually develop tooth decay and cavities, but at your regular cleaning we can reverse enamel loss! Using fluoride treatments, we help your teeth recalcify, which adds enamel back to the areas where it may be weakened. Just another reason to get a regular cleaning!
Your First Exam at Northalsted Dental Spa
When you come to our office for your first dental cleaning, we’ll start by making you feel just as welcomed and comfortable as someone we’ve been seeing for years. We’ll even present you with a new patient gift!
Once you’re checked in and ready for your appointment, we’ll have one of our hygienists take you back for X-rays and a scan with our Spectra cavity detector – an amazing machine that can show us where cavities are when they’re barely the size of a pinhole!
We clean your teeth and you’ll meet with Dr. Griffin. The two of you will have a chance to chat and make decisions about your future dental care. Dr. Griffin will examine your X-rays and other results in order to make treatment recommendations, but you’ll get to decide what kind of care you receive! We’ll help you get set up for any future appointments, discuss your financing options and needs, and then you’ll be ready to leave with a healthy, happy smile!
If you are interested in giving your teeth the care they deserve, don’t wait one more day! Call our office today at 773-245-2779 or make an appointment using our online form. We look forward to seeing you soon!
